As the name suggests, styrofoam is a kind of glue with foaming properties and adhesive characteristics, which is mainly used for filling, sealing and bonding at the edge joints of building doors and windows, expansion joints and holes of components. It is a polyurethane elastomeric sealing foam that relies on moisture curing. Styrofoam is composed of polyurethane prepolymer, foaming agent, catalyst, cross-linking agent, etc. filled into a high-pressure iron can, and filled with propane and other gases. It is divided into two types: gun type and tube type, the gun type is required to use a special polyurethane foam gun, and the tube type is equipped with a disposable hose.
Introduction of styrofoam
Styrofoam is a kind of filling, sealing and bonding mainly used for filling, sealing and bonding at the edge joints of building doors and windows, expansion joints and holes of components. It is a polyurethane elastic sealing foam material that relies on moisture curing. It is divided into two types: gun type and tube type, the gun type is required to use a special polyurethane foam gun, and the tube type is equipped with a disposable hose. It is a one-component, moisture-curing, multi-purpose polyurethane foam-filled elastomeric sealant. Styrofoam is a special polyurethane product that fills polyurethane prepolymers, blowing agents, catalysts and other components in pressure-resistant aerosol cans.
Foaming principle
When the material is ejected from the aerosol can, the foam-like polyurethane material expands rapidly and solidifies with the air or moisture in the substrate it comes into contact with to form a foam. The cured styrofoam foam has a variety of effects such as caulking, bonding, sealing, heat insulation, sound absorption, etc., and is an environmentally friendly, energy-saving, easy-to-use building material, which can be used for sealing and plugging, filling in the gaps, fixing and bonding, thermal insulation and sound insulation, especially suitable for sealing and plugging and waterproofing between plastic steel or aluminum alloy doors and windows and walls
The use and steps of tubular styrofoam
- Same as the second step of the gun type.
- Then take the disposable hose and screw it clockwise.
- Make sure that the tank is placed above, the foaming gun is below the tank, aim at the bottom or inside of the part to be filled, gently pull the trigger, and start construction.
- Spray from bottom to top, and the injection volume can be 80% of the required filling volume (the filling volume of the tube type is 2/3)
Use tips
Pay attention to the travel speed when spraying, usually the injection volume is 2/3 of the required filling volume. Vertical gaps should be filled from bottom to top; When filling gaps such as those in the ceiling, uncured foam may fall due to gravity, so it is recommended to provide proper support just after filling and wait for the foam to solidify and bond to the seam wall before withdrawing the support. In about 10 minutes, the foam will be debonded, and after 60 minutes, it can be cut. Use a knife to cut off the excess foam and apply the surface with cement mortar, paint or silicone.
Storage method
It is strictly forbidden to store in a dry, cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. The storage temperature should not exceed 30°C.
Main uses:
Door and window installation: caulk sealing, fixed bonding between doors and windows and walls.
Advertising model: production of models and sand tables, repair of display boards.
Sound insulation and sound reduction: filling the gaps in the decoration of the language room and broadcasting room can play a role in sound insulation and sound reduction.
Gardening: flower arrangement, gardening, light and beautiful.
Daily maintenance: repair of holes, gaps, wall tiles, floor tiles, floors.
Waterproof plugging: repair and plugging of water pipes, sewers and other loopholes.
Precautions
Precautions for storage
The normal use temperature of styrofoam tank is +5~+40°C, and the optimal use temperature is +18~+25°C. In the case of low temperature, it is recommended to place this product at a constant temperature of +25~+30°C for 30 minutes before using it to ensure its best performance. The temperature resistance range of cured foam is -35°C~+80°C.
Precautions for use
- Styrofoam is a moisture-curing foam, which should be sprayed on a moist surface when used, the greater the humidity, the faster the curing. Uncured foam can be cleaned with a cleaning agent, while cured foam should be removed mechanically (sanding or cutting). The cured foam will turn yellow when exposed to ultraviolet light, and it is recommended to coat the cured foam surface with other materials (cement mortar, paint, etc.). After the spray gun is used, please clean it with a special cleaning agent immediately.
- When replacing the tank, shake the new tank well (at least 20 times), remove the empty tank, and quickly replace the new tank to prevent the gun connection from curing.
- The flow control valve and trigger of the spray gun can control the size of the foam flow. When the injection stops, the flow valve is closed in a clockwise direction.
Safety Precautions
The uncured foam is sticky to the skin and clothes, do not touch the skin and clothes when using, the pressure in the styrofoam can is 5-6kg/cm2 (25 °C), the temperature should not exceed 50 °C during storage and transportation, in case of tank explosion, the styrofoam can should be avoided from direct sunlight, it is strictly forbidden for children to touch, the empty cans after use, especially the styrofoam cans that are partially used and have not been used up, should not be thrown away, and it is forbidden to burn or puncture the empty cans. Keep away from open flames and do not come into contact with flammable and explosive materials. The construction site should have ventilation conditions, and construction personnel should wear work gloves, work clothes and goggles during construction, and do not smoke at the same time. In case the foam gets in contact with your eyes, rinse with water before going to the hospital. In case of contact with skin, rinse with water and soap.
